What do the Nats have to do to avoid 100 losses again in 2010? Trade? Ride Strasburg? What are your thoughts?

I don't think it we can put all the pressure on Strasburg. I'm not sure he should even be on the opening day roster and a 10 win season would be a good start for him I think. That being said, I hope he is in the rotation early this season and performs well. And if he comes out of the gate strong, I think the Nationals will have no problem coming in under the 100 loss mark.

They certainly need some help at middle infield. Guzman and Desmond don't seem like the answer there.

They potentially have a very strong top of the order. Tony Plush, Willingham, Zimmerman, and Dunn could easily be one of the better top 4 in the National League. Add in a productive Elijah Dukes (big IF) and the lineup starts to look pretty solid. There's a rumor of a potential trade of Willingham for Derek Lowe. Lowe could probably help the rotation, but losing Willingham's bat would hurt.

Pitching should certainly be better this year, but that's not saying a whole lot given how poorly the pitching was last year. Marquis is listed as the #1 starter on the depth chart and should improve rotation, but he's no ace. Lannan is pretty solid and Jordan Zimmerman could be valuable if healthy. The bullpen is stronger with the addition of Capps and Bruney, but could probably use another solid middle reliever.

I think the Nationals are likely to finish at the bottom of the NL East again, but they should at least show some improvement over last year.

Pretty good analysis. I think they'll be a little better overall, and while Strasburg won't be THE reason that they'll break the trend, he'll certainly help.
