Look guys, the Redskins suck. They suck big time. There are only so many things to say about a season like this, and it's almost over. However, it's Dallas week, and no matter how bad our Redskins might be, you still get a little pumped at the chance to see Tony Romo cry.
Albert Haynesworth did his best Grinch impression over the past few days, but that won't dampen my spirit (although I'll have some things to say about the guy in the near future). The Redskins still have a chance to win this game, and there are some important things to keep in mind come Sunday night:
- How will the Redskins respond to being humiliated on national television? Will they be humiliated again? I wouldn't be super surprised, considering the confidence Dallas has after beating New Orleans, as well as a little extra rest. However, a defense with a leader like London Fletcher shouldn't lay an egg like that in consecutive weeks. Note that I said "shouldn't," not "can't."
- The Redskins must use the pass to set up the run. Dallas has a pretty decent rush defense, but their pass defense has been a little bit porous. However, that also means that the offensive line must figure out a way to block DeMarcus Ware, which is easier said than done.
- Speaking of the passing game, look for lots of screens and misdirection plays to limit the speed of the Cowboy defense. That's one solid way to make guys like Ware think before turning Jason Campbell into a tackling dummy.
- Look for Devin Thomas to have a big day. I've never been solid on the Dallas corners, and Thomas has been playing pretty well. If he can get some separation on Terrance Newman and Co., he could do pretty well.
- Watch Brian Orakpo. Dallas's line is aging and prone to holding. If the referees choose to call it, Orakpo could draw a lot of penalties. Just pray that Greg Blache puts his hand in the dirt and rushes him.
- If Jason Witten has a big day, the Redskins are screwed. Tight Ends have been able to kill the middle of the Redskin defense, and Witten is one of the best in the business. Someone must figure out a way to slow him down if Washington wants to do better on third downs.
- Speaking of third downs, they must limit Dallas to under 40% in the first half, or there's no hope of winning. Tony Romo will probably turn the ball over, but if they can sustain drives early, they will tire the defense out easily.
I don't really THINK the Redskins win, but it would be nice considering that I'm dragging my butt to Landover from West Virginia for this one.
