In light of Alex Ovechkin's second suspension in the past five months, we're going to take the high road. Here are the top ten reasons that Ovi's two-game suspension is a good thing:

10. Mike Milbury's head might finally explode.
9. Tomas Fleischmann won't have to play center and lose 75% of his draws this week.
8. Ovi will have the opportunity to participate in Rock the Red's drinking game for the first time. More shots vodka please!
7. It's much easier to drive a cart around the Verizon Center underbelly when you don't have to play a game that night.
6. Tomas Vokoun can save his ego for one night.
5. It's not like we play Pittsburgh or Philly this week.
4. Matt Cooke can read TSN's homepage and laugh for a change.
3. Ted Leonsis has a buddy to help snag the Lays out of the vending machine again.
2. Quintin Laing and Tyler Sloan might get recognized on nacho runs if Ovi tags along now.
1. Sidney Crosby can have the Rocket Richard and Hart trophies this year, because Ovi can rest up for a Conn Smythe and a Stanley Cup this time around.

Please
If the caps played Pitt this week, no chance Ovechkin would have been suspended.

This is just to make Crosby think he MIGHT have a shot at the Richard and Hart - Ovie will get them anyways.

Thank You
Thanks for making me laugh about this...I have been taking it WAY too hard. Even if Crosby gets the Rocket Richard he will know the only reason is that OV played like 8-10 less games then him. We all know who the best scorer and overall player is!

The number one reason why Ovi's suspension is a good thing? Less likelihood of guys getting cheap-shotted into the boards and ending their season.

Though Millbury's head exploding would be pretty epic. Especially if the shrapnel hit Eddie O.

mgilly96 "OV in his way out."
Out where? He'll be around for quite a while. Probably not as long as Sindy but, is that really the point? The point is OV flies around the ice like a 225+ maniac and Crosby plays pretty much like a little girl. Granted a super talented little girl but a big sissy nonetheless." I don't really care who has more awards or accolades. Granted, the Caps don't have the one award that counts. But that is not because OV isn't as good OR better than Sindy. Nor are the Pens winners just because of Sindy. He and OV are just cogs in the machine that's all. Dude, take all the pride and BS out of this and be objective. If not, then what you are saying is that the Pens would not be strong contenders if not for Sindy. Do you really think that's true? Really? I for one don't think Sindy is a worse or less talented player than OV. Just a different style. And HE did not win the cup. His team did. You Jackass!

Cgally OV and his "cheap" shots
I won't get into the debate of what is a cheap shot or not. BTW, what is the definition of that? I'm not sure I'm clear on that. And is there really a definition? I don't mean several ideas about the concept. But one, exact, single definition. Certainly OV isn't the only player who lays people out. Really, can't some of the blame be placed on the player who has his head so far up his ass that he doesn't realize he just MIGHT get crushed when OV is on the ice. If OV needs to be more responsible, can't one also argue that opponents need to be more aware? If Campbell did know OV was right behind him he should have done more to protect himself. If he didn't realize it then that's his problem. And if many experts of the game argue that the check was not worthy of a 5 min. pen. then who the F are you to say it was? I don't claim to have an answer. To me there is often a fine line between dirty and just plain balls out hockey. Of course, I was always one to take advantage of an opponent's lack of awareness. (Back in the day when I was quite an athlete and not some 40 y/o out of shape bald guy). Just sayin'.

Define Cheap Shot
Can anyone claim to have the definitive explanation of that term? Does a players lack of awareness play a part in the equation? An elbow to the face, that's inexcusable. An INTENTIONAL knee on knee hit...just plain wrong. But, for example, I don't believe OV meant to go knee to knee with Gonchar. A player needs to be responsible for their body. And so, OV was at the very least negligent. But does anyone really think he intends to tear ligaments and break bones? Seriously...does anyone REALLY believe that? If it can be proven that OV means to injure (as opposed to hurt) I'll be the first person to call for serious discipline. But, I refuse to believe that even the nastiest of players mean to injure someone. (Save for the elbows and knees as mentioned before. Kinda goes without saying that intent to injure is there).

Come on, I challenge you all to provide a definition for cheap shot. If even 2 people come up with different ideas then I've proven my point. There is no actual definition for that term. It is subjective. Not objective. AGAIN, elbow and knees and cross checks to the face, or the Dale Hunter-LaFontaine type hit excepted.

Hey CGally, it's good to know guys don't have to worry about getting boarded anymore. They just have to make sure no one elbows them in the head from behind, since players don't get suspended for that junk.
