Mike, a.k.a. "The Miz"

mikecooleyMike was born in Manassas, Va and has been die-hard D.C. sports fan since the age of five, when he attended his first Redskins game (a 56-17 blowout of the Atlanta Falcons in 1991). He loves all of his teams and does everything in his power to get to as many games a humanly possible (and financially possible) each and every season. He's got two tattoos, one Redskins, one Virginia Tech, and can't wait until the day that D.C. can be called a titletown. He thinks that Frank Beamer is the best special teams mind in college football history and Bud Foster can make your head explode with just one glare. Mike is a 2008 alumnus of Virginia Tech and holds bachelor's degree in Political Science. He is currently pursuing his M.Ed. from George Mason University in Fairfax.

Kevin was born in Leesburg, VA and will be a junior at Virginia Tech in the fall of 2010. Having lived in NOVA his whole life, Kevin has become a die-hard Washington, DC and Virginia Tech sports fan. He is currently a member of the Virginia Tech Drumline and will be interning with the Virginia Tech ISP Sports Network in the upcoming school year. Kevin has a passion for sports writing and broadcasting, currently holding positions as the PA announcer for Hokie Baseball and On-Field Emcee for the Salem Red Sox. He has yet to witness a championship for a DC sports team, as the Redskins' last Super Bowl victory came when he was just two years old, but has waited patiently for his favorite teams to become title contenders. Kevin is currently pursuing a B.A. in Communication with an Electronic and Print Journalism option.

FFODC FAQ E-mail

What is Fight For Old D.C.?

FFODC is a fan blog covering teams in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) region. Specifically, we talk about the teams we like: Redskins, Capitals, Nationals, Wizards, Virginia Tech, and occasionally George Mason and James Madison.

When did you start FFODC?

Technically, FFODC started in May of 2008, but it tailed off and made a big comeback in June of 2009 and we've been going strong ever since.

How can I help out if I want to become involved with FFODC?

Please, take the time to become an active member of the blog's community. Ultimately, we'd like a vibrant community on this site, and commenting is the easiest way to get involved. Also, feel free to contact me with any ideas or stories you'd like covered, and I can look into it. From there, if you'd like to contribute, please feel free to email me at fightforolddcblog-at-gmail-dot-com.
